EL MONTE, CA – Three student artists from Kranz Intermediate School were recently recognized as award winners in the 2012 Los Angeles Regional Scholastic Art Awards. The Scholastic Art Awards recognizes accomplished teen artists in seventh through twelfth grade in several diverse categories including video game design, photography, sculpture, painting and drawing.

Honored with a Silver Key Award was Saul Cuevas whose comic book cover greatly impressed the judges. Cassandra Millanponce also earned a Silver Key Award for her creative comic book The Evil Villain. Lidia Mandujano received an Honorable Mention Award for her Beach House architectural rendering. The three honorees are eighth graders in Graciela Adamczyk’s Advanced Art class at Kranz.

The contest is sponsored by the Amory Center for the Arts in partnership with The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, Ovation and Time Warner Cable. According to contest officials, this year was the most successful competition to date with over 2,500 art entries submitted.
